The greatest heckler put-down in the world?
Dear Harry,
As I'm sure many will testify to I'm a fan of profanity, when correctly used.
An excessive mental dictionary, a reasonably sharp whit and the ability to speak with conviction on some, to most, matters has convinced me that the occasional expletive lends gravitas to any conversational set-piece.
There have been many great comedians and I've watched their shows in states of mirth, but I become helpless with laughed in the presence of people who really know how to swear. Greats like Dennis Leary, Eddie Murphy, Ben Elton and Bill Hicks have, or in some cases had, foul mouths but wise minds behind them.
But nobody get's up onstage unless them know how to put-down the auidence when they start heckling, so it is with some pride I write that I have heard the finest put-down to a heckle last night, while at the Jim Rose circus.
The great man himself was preparing to smash his finger with a can if beans when a lone lune cried out;
"Pus*y! I'd do it"
Jim responded thus;
"Sir, I don't slap the sailors co*ks from your mouth while your working, so I'd appreciate you extending me the same courtesy"
Regards,
Charlie
